The encyclopedia covers the 1991 Persian Gulf War, the Afghanistan War, the Iraq War (2003- ), and the general War on Terror. Topics covered include military, social, political, economic, and cultural issues.

Contributors MUST hold at least a master's degree (or equivalent, or at least TWO full years of graduate study) in history or an allied field. Contributors should also have a demonstrable record of publication in scholarly venues or other serious publications.
