CALL FOR PAPERS
for the 2008–09 academic year
Deadline for Submission: 15 May 2008

The Urban History Dissertation Group is a monthly workshop in which graduate students studying urban history present material from their dissertations (most often chapter drafts) to their peers. The seminar provides a comfortable, low-pressure setting for discussion of works in progress. Graduate students from all universities are welcome.

Members should be committed to attending as many of the meetings as possible. To maximize time for discussion, papers are circulated electronically in advance. The group meets on selected Saturdays during the academic year, 3:00–5:00 PM, at the Newberry Library in Chicago.

Submissions will be reviewed and accepted, and dates assigned, on a first come, first served basis. Proposals should include an abstract, preferred presentation date, and a dissertation outline explaining how the paper fits into the larger project.Please send proposals to the seminar coordinator, Tamsen Anderson (tamsen@berkeley.edu). Please send all materials as electronic attachments via email.

The Newberry Library is unable to provide funds for travel or lodging, but can provide assistance in locating discounted accommodations.
