The volume and series editors have contracted with Facts on File Publishers for the publication of a stand alone set of volumes in the American Life and Culture Series, and the editors are searching for contributors to submit to a volume within the series titled, "Slave Life and Slave Culture." The due date for submissions will be September 1, 2008 contributors will receive $250 for each contribution. The contributions will contain the following components:
1) an objective explanatory essay about a specific topic (3000-4000 words); and 2) primary sources (3000-7000words). The essay will provide an overview; the primary material will provide first-hand accounts and the documentation to support the overview. Typically primary materials will consist of oral history, letters, diaries, newspapers, and autobiographies; the journalistic record is a basic resource.
