Stories of O: the Oprahfication of America
Second round call for papers
For a new edited volume on Oprah Winfrey as culture industry. We are close to finalizing a contract with a University Press with publication slated for 2009.
The editors of this volume seek essays on two topics to round out the collection. Those topics include:
critical race, feminist, cultural studies, sociological, historical perspectives on Oprah and black men (including, but not limited to, the Oprah industry’s relationship to black men in publications, films, on the talk show, in the news)
and
economics, business, or marketing perspectives on the Oprah industry’s position as a transnational capitalist enterprise (including, but not limited to, Oprah’s media holdings, Broadway production, Harpo holdings).
Please send 200-word proposals and a short bio to: Dr. Trystan T. Cotten (acotten@csustan.edu) and Dr. Kimberly Springer (kimberly.springer@kcl.ac.uk) by 1 April 2008.
