Call for papers for the Mid-Atlantic Popular/American Culture
October 30-November 2, 2008
Niagra Falls, Ontario
Women’s Studies and Popular Culture
The Women’s Studies area seeks papers, panels and roundtables that investigate and discuss any of the many overlaps between gender and popular culture. Topics could include, but are certainly not limited to:
women and the media
women and politics
portrayals of motherhood
female sexuality and popular culture
women and religion
women writers, written women
MAPACA supports all approaches; one goal of this conference is to create interdisciplinary exchange, and the Women’s Studies area therefore seeks papers by scholars from all fields of study. Students, both graduate and undergraduate, are encouraged to apply.
MAPACA also desires an interactive, engaged conference and therefore encourages presenters to try new presentation methods.
Send a 250-word abstract with AV needs, by June 15, to Annalisa Castaldo at firstname.lastname@example.org (Preferred) or 135 Lexington Avenue, E. Lansdowne, PA 19050 (please note the area chair information has changed since the 2007 conference). Please feel free to email with any questions.
