One: (formal call): There will be a ritual theater festival with a concurrent conference with peer reviewed academic papers and panel discussion to be held in Berkeley, Ca., in 2009. There is need to create a panel of interested professionals for an integrative and cross-discipline approach for peer review. Organizational Collaborative partners/sponsors area lso welcome. Please contact Lezlie Kinyon, lezlie - at - znet.com, if you are interested in participating in this process.
A background - Ph.D.- in consciousness (including dreams & shamanic performance), creativity, theater and performance, folklore & folk magic, and in ritual is required for reviewers. Thank you--
Two: (informal call): At the Starlight Circle Players' Annual Core Group dinner January 11, the conversation came around to ritual theater and the need for a "body of knowledge" to work from. Please consider a short essay on what you think/feel and understand concerning ritual theater for our monthly newsletter, "Starlit Tales". This can include any approach from any culture or tradition; from both performance and the technical aspects of mounting ritual theater - shadow puppetry, shamanic performance, dreamworks, Tamul "divine plays" (tiru vilaiyatal), Morris & hoodening rituals, other dance & music performance. Because this is all toward creating a body of knowledge, please include references and/or a short bibliography. (I will check your references.) As an editor, I prefer MLA, Chicago Manual, or AP styles, but don't really care so long as you are clear in what you mean to say and reference well. Kinyon, ed.
