We invite postgraduate students and early career researchers working in any field of Medieval Studies to submit abstracts for an interdisciplinary conference at the University of Sheffield, hosted by the Humanities Research Institute on 14th-15th June.
We welcome papers which approach issues in the interpretation of expressions of identity in medieval culture. Suitable topics may include, but are not limited to:
Textual transmission: distinguishing voices in manuscripts
Musical voices; polyphony
Language; dialect; linguistic diversity
Regional/national identities; constructions of identity
The voice of authority; the voice of dissent
The voice of God
Oral tradition/ folklore
Locating the voice through new technology
We are delighted to confirm that our keynote speaker will be Professor Jocelyn Wogan-Brown.
