The University of Missouri at Kansas City Is offering Summer Workshops for K-12 teachers on the Missouri-Kansas Border Wars. These National Endowment for the Humanities funded workshops entitled Crossroads of Conflict: Conflicting Visions of Freedom and the Missouri Kansas Border Wars will be offered twice-- July 13-17 and July 27-August 2, 2008. Participants will visit a number of historic sites on both sides of the state line and will work together with leading scholars and master teachers to devise plans for bringing American history to life for students.
Workshop participants will be housed in the three-year-old UMKC dorm or, if they prefer, a local hotel. They will receive a $500 stipend to offset the cost of lodging and food. Travel subsidies of up to $300 are also available. For more information visit: http://cas.umkc.edu/history/NEH_Landmarks/Index.htm
