Join the Marymount Department of Literature and Languages for a faculty presentation:
Songs from the Karakachani – A Sequence of Poems
Inspired by the Lost Culture of the Karakachani, a Nomadic Balkan Tribe.
Wednesday, February 27, 5 p.m. • Reinsch Library, Main Campus at Marymount University
Dr. Hollynd Karapetkova, assistant professor of Literature and Languages, will read original poetry inspired by the songs of the Karakachani, a nomadic tribe of mysterious origin that roamed across the Balkans and now has been assimilated into modern-day Greece and Bulgaria. She will
also discuss the tribe’s history and culture, which have given rise to the images and themes in the poetry.
Following the presentation will be a Graduate Open House where Faculty, Admissions staff, and current students will be available to discuss Marymount's Humanities, and Literatrue & Language graduate programs.
