Needed: A chair/respondent for a proposed panel on masculinity, identity and culture in the British Isles, post-1945, for presentation at the 2008 North American Conference on British Studies in Cincinnati, Ohio. The panel consists of papers dealing with masculinity and Irish identity, from 1952 to the present; the Committee for Nuclear Disarmament and the creation of a British moral imperative in the 1950s and ‘60s; and articulations of masculinity through the appropriation of African-American blues music by British rock musicians in the 1960s and ‘70s.
Interested persons may be at any academic level, from doctoral candidates to senior faculty, and must be a member in good standing of NACBS at the time of proposal.
