The Pacific Historical Review offers two year-long graduate editorial fellowships that run from September 16, 2008, through September 15, 2009. Both fellowships provide a stipend, a graduate tuition waiver, a research expense allowance, and support for travel to a major professional conference.
The Caroline P. Stoel Editorial Fellowships carry, respectively, annual stipends of $12,000, usually awarded to a second-year student, and $10,000, usually awarded to an incoming student. Entering students, however, are eligible for either fellowship.
The fellowships are open to all students enrolled in the Portland State University graduate history program, and graduate students in any field of historical study are encouraged to apply.
A complete application includes:
** A curriculum vitae
** A letter describing the applicant’s academic background, career objectives, intellectual interests, and intended fields of graduate study, as well as the ways that these academic plans and previous experiences relate to the position of editorial assistant.
** Three letters of recommendation, preferably from individuals who can speak to the applicant’s academic preparation and capacity for this editorial fellowship.
Complete applications must be postmarked no later than February 15, 2008. Fellowship recipients for 2008 - 2009 will be announced in April 2008.
