I am seeking proposals for chapters for an edited book on the effects of new media on traditional media and how technological advancements are changing the traditional media landscape. Proposals may examine any aspect of media ranging from regulatory, economic, management, advertising delivery, the role of conglomerates and partnerships between new media and traditional media, and the changing dynamics of the audience, and programming strategies.
Specifically, this book will examine the changing role of traditional media such as radio, television, newspapers, and magazines in the 21st century as a means to stay competitive with emerging new media.
Particularly, the chapter proposals should examine the emergence of and consumption by mainstream audiences of new media. Examples include podcasts, U-tube, blogs, Internet radio stations, music downloading portals such as iTunes, and television networks offering full-length dramas online for podcast viewing along with any other existing and/or emerging form of new media that has already or is expected to emerge in the 21st century.
If possible, I would like to have all chapter proposals by April 1, 2008 and find a publisher for the book late this spring. Your chapters would be due late fall 2008 or spring 2009. Chapter length would be approximately 5,000-7,000 words.
I am open to any additional topics, ideas, and approaches. Please contact me at:
