Literature and Religion Session, 2008 RMMLA Convention: 3/1/08 (RENO, NV - October 9-11)
We welcome submission of proposals for individual papers that consider, but are not limited to, the relationship of literature to the following issues:
Religious acculturation in families/congregations/communities
Polemical confrontations concerning magic/superstition/religion
Reproduction of national/religious ideology
Religion and gender/sexuality/race
Colonialism/postcolonialism/ neocolonialism and religion
Representations of the messianic or the apocalyptic
Religion and the naturalization of the social
Negotiations of Religious/Cultural/Social/National identity
Secularization and Resacralization
Modernity and Fundamentalism
Religion and revolution
Institutionalized Religion
Please submit abstracts (250-500 words – Word or RTF format) to robertsc@reed.edu
(write RMMLA 2008 in the subject line). Be sure to include name, phone number, mailing address, and institutional affiliation.
The deadline for paper proposals is MARCH 1st, 2008.
Colleagues whose paper proposals have been short listed for presentation will be notified by MARCH 9th, 2008.
Those who submitted proposals will be notified of their acceptance or rejection by March 15th, 2008.
Presenters need to be current members of RMMLA by April 1 for inclusion in the program and to receive the April mailing of the journal and the newsletter.
