The Cold War in the Arctic
Call for Papers
The scope of the conference will encompass both the Cold War in the
Arctic. The aim of the conference is to bring together scholars from
Russia and elsewhere to discuss different aspects of the Cold War in the
Northern areas. Fields to be covered might be:
- Theoretical problems of the Cold War and International Policy.
- The International Relations During the Cold War.
- Arms and Space Race and it's Influence on Technology and Environment.
- The Cold War: Lessons of History.
During the workshop the major themes of the paper should be
presented in 20 minutes. Time will be left for extensive discussion. It is the intent of the organizers of the conference to publish the final versions of the papers afterwards. The working languages of the conference will be English and Russian. The conference will be held at the Pomor State University and on
board the old steamer (built in 1911) "Gogol" on the Northern Dvina river. The organizers offer board and accommodation but will not be able to cover travel expenses.
