Expert in Middle Eastern antiquities Phil Graham, of UConn’s Anthropology Department, will discuss the use of papyrus as paper for texts and art in ancient Egypt. While conducting his research in Egypt and Jordan, Graham learned the ancient craft of using the pith of the papyrus plant’s stem to produce paper. In this workshop, you will learn how the ancient Egyptians made this extremely durable paper, and then make some of your own to take home.
Presented by the Connecticut State Museum of Natural History and Connecticut Archaeology Center, part of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at UConn. 860.486.4460 and http://www.cac.uconn.edu/mnhcurrentcalendar.html
