The West Point Summer Seminar in Military History is now accepting applications for our 2008 program (4-25 June). Each fellow will receive travel and meal reimbursement, lodging, and a stipend. This year’s program will include seminars and lectures from distinguished scholars and USMA faculty, staff rides at West Point, Antietam, and Gettysburg, and a symposium discussing matters of general interest to the field.
Applicants must have a PhD or be a graduate student with all but the dissertation complete before the seminar begins. The mission of the program is to advance the field of military history by training educators, thus junior faculty currently teaching military history or advanced graduate students who intend to teach upon receiving their doctorate are favored. Nevertheless, outstanding applicants with degrees in the social sciences or those who do not consider themselves primarily as military historians are also encouraged to apply. Additionally, we select a number of international participants each year. Please visit our website (link below) or contact me directly (jason.clark@usma.edu). The deadline for complete applications is 1 February.
