The History Graduate Students Association at California State University, Fresno presents:
"Discourse and History"
10th Annual History Graduate Student Symposium
Saturday, April 12, 2008
Featuring:
Dr. Ronald Mellor
Professor of History & Classics at the University of California Los Angeles and author of "The Roman Historians" and "Tacitus."
The HGSA invites papers from graduate students on any historical theme as it pertains to discourse in history. Discourse often suggests the communication of thought via formal speech and writing on a measured topic. However, it may also refer to the dialogue and interactions of historical actors in “real life”. At the 2008 symposium, we seek to learn about the nature of discourse and how it has shaped both the development of history and our greater understanding of it.
Please submit a 200-300 word proposal and a copy of your c.v. by February 8, 2008.
