To follow the 2007 UCLA African Activist Association Conference, entitled "Multi-Mediating Africa: Emerging Artistic and Technological Re/presentations," UFAHAMU is publishing a special issue that will include work presented at the conference. The theme of conference highlighted ways that Africans leverage and negotiate locality in a globalized world to encourage discourse on how Africa is represented.
UFAHAMU is actively seeking submissions of articles thematically related to multi-media: use of internet, digital technology, emerging artistic media, and new ways of using traditional media. Submissions should not be limited to scholarly articles, but also include political-economic analysis, commentaries, film and book reviews, short fiction, and poetry.
This special issue will be published in Volume 34, Issue 2 (Winter 2007). Submissions are due no later than Friday, December 31, 2007. Submissions should be no more than 30 pages, clearly typed, double spaced, and, where appropriate, with footnotes on separate page(s). Electronic submissions only please, submitted at ufahamu@ucla.edu.
The Editorial Board reserves the right to edit any manuscript to meet the objectives of the journal. Along with the submissions, authors are expected to email a brief biographical note, including position, academic affiliation and recent significant publications, etc. All correspondence should be addressed to the Editor-in-Chief via email at ufahamu@ucla.edu.
