Call for Paper Presentations:
Human Rights Paradigms and Movements: Third World Perspectives and Challenges
The session organizer seeks presentations on the sociology of human rights in Third World settings. Topics may include the universalism/relativism discourse, basic needs (from overcoming poverty to providing shelter and cultural/legal rights to women, sexual minorities, and indigenous groups), civil liberties, and institutional protection in varying Third World and other transforming societies.
All theoretical and empirical approaches including local case studies, regional comparisons, and transnational cases are welcome!
