All queries about Historical Fiction in literature, film, or television are welcome. Albuquerque is a unique site for this conference since historically it has signified the diverse kinds of settings seen in historical fiction or in historical settings in fiction: cultural, socio-political, psycho-social, as well as in re-setting historical (mis)representations of diverse Southwest and American cultures. The theme is inclusive of everything from intertextual allusions to memoirs and recontextualizations of historical moments or adapting historical narrative for contemporary audiences in nouveau settings (or setting the narrative straighter/better). The topic can also be discussed in terms of the genre and its conventions in the past, present, and future, or the dialectic between narrative or fiction and factual events. Comparative, interdisciplinary, intercultural, and postcolonial papers are encouraged.

Paper and panel proposals should include an abstract of 100-200 words by email. Presentation time is 15-20 minutes. Please include your contact information and a biographical paragraph. Specify equipment requirements for your presentation.

For panels, please include: panel title; name and contact info of panel chair; an abstract, contact and biographical info from each presenter.

The SW/TX PCA/ACA annual conferences are structured according to a wide range of interest areas. Times and rooms are assigned according to area by conference organizers.
