8th Annual Conference of the History Department
Archeology– Archivistics – Ethnology and Folklore – History-
Art history – Museology

In order to to encourage the transmission of scholarly knowledge, Artefact invites graduate students, young scholars, courses directors and professors to submit a proposal for a paper for the 8th annual graduate student conference of the History department. To commemorate the 400th anniversary of the foundation of Quebec city, the conference program offers the following choices to the scholars willing to participate:
1- Open topic papers:
We invite graduate students in history, art history, museology, archeology, ethnology, archivistics – to present the preliminary or final results of their research in any topic.
2- Papers on the theme: Quebec (the city, the region, the province) through the ages : 400 years of history :
We invite students, young scholars, courses directors and professors to present papers on this large and multidisciplinary topic.
3- Thematic sessions or mini-conferences :
Groups of students and scholars willing to propose a thematic session (three to six papers) or a mini-conference (two to four thematic sessions, each of them comprise of three to six papers) in a topic of their choosing are welcome. For each session or mini-colloque proposed, there should be a person in charge of its organisation (gathering of paper proposals, course of the session, choosing of the chair of the session(s), etc.) This person must submit to Artefact the following information : the topic of the session, the paper proposals that he will have previously gathered, and the order of presentation.
Each proposal must indicate in which of the three sections it wants to be included and have the following elements:
a synopsis of the paper (max. 20 lines) (comprise of a short contextualization, a clear problematic, and the principal ideas of your paper)
keywords that define your topic;
a short bio-bibliography (complete name, discipline and program of study, university, phone number, postal and e-mail adress, area of research and publications, if any); request for audio-visual equipment
Please note that Artefact can cover some of your travelling and lodging expenses.

Compose of members of the Executive committee of Artefact, the selection committee will analyse your proposal and will get back to you around mid-december. Your proposal will be posted on the website of Artefact. Also, you will have the possibility of submitting the text of you paper for the Proceedings of the 8th Student Conference of the History department. Please note that money prizes will be given for the best papers. For any other information :
