**Constructing Identities**

The Graduate Union of the Students of Art announces this year’s annual conference, "Constructing Identities," which will take place on Friday, January 18, 2008 at the University of Toronto Art Centre. Graduate students in Art History and from any discipline of the Humanities are invited to submit abstracts for presentations of twenty minutes.
Papers may address the construction of identity in the broadest sense. Topics may include, but are not restricted to: portraiture and indexes of identity; self-portraiture; family and corporate identity; biography and autobiography; historiography; cross cultural exchanges; travel and exile; gender studies; patronage; diaspora; geography: cities, courts, regions; national boundaries and borders; social identity; literary identity; material culture; costume; politics of identity....
Abstracts for submissions should be no more than one page, accompanied by a short biography.
Please submit abstracts by November 22, 2007 to the symposium committee at the following address: a.glover@utoronto.ca.
The committee will finalize the conference schedule by December 1, 2007.
