"Debate in the Neighborhood" is an opportunity to discuss the the value/possibility/difficulty of democratic exchange, with particular emphasis on the intersection between debate/discussion/disenfranchised voices and "the neighborhood" in the local (urban, suburban) or international (European Union, globalization) sense. Being interdisciplinary in scope, the conference welcomes abstracts, by October 17th, 2007, on a wide variety of subject areas (including education, politics, identity, media, gender, ethnic relations). The conference (which includes academic papers, workshops, and panel discussions) takes place in Kaunas, Lithuania at Vytautas Magnus University, on November 7th and 8th. There is no conference fee.
