Albuquerque, New Mexico, February 13-16, 2008: Computer Culture Area panels at the Southwest/Texas Popular Culture and American Culture Associations Annual Meeting. Send proposals by November 15, 2007.
The Computer Culture Area invites paper, panel, roundtable, and performance proposals on a wide range of topics, including but not limited to blogging, Web sites, social networking sites and issues, online publishing, visual arts, internationalism, online "vice" culture (pornography, gambling, etc.), and online commercial culture. The papers should be more than merely descriptive. Research and analysis may be pursued from any humanities, social science, tech, or arts perspective. Graduate students and independent scholars and artists are always welcome.
Submit a 150-word abstract embedded in the body of an email. Include contact information (postal and preferred email address, phone and fax numbers) and a biographical note.
For panel and other proposals, such as performances: Feel free to query first. Panel proposals should include all of the information requested for individual paper proposals, as well as a 100-word statement of the panel’s rationale and any noteworthy organizational features and audio-visual requirements.
