Call for Presentations
The Twelfth Biennial Maple Leaf And Eagle Conference on North American Studies, "North America: Relations And Relationships," at the University of Helsinki, Finland, May 6–9, 2008
The conference committee will be looking for presentations across a wide range of disciplines and approaches relating to the general conference theme. The conference aims to promote interdisciplinary dialogue and is open to scholars from any relevant discipline within the general field of North American (U.S. and/or Canadian) Studies.
The conference will follow a format of plenary lectures and theme sessions (workshops). The presentation time in workshop sessions is 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes of discussion. Participants are encouraged to summarize their findings orally rather than read a paper. The working language of the conference is English. Proposals including an abstract (max. 400 words) and a short CV should be submitted to the conference organizers by October 31, 2007. Entries by e-mail are encouraged. Notification of acceptance will be sent by December 31, 2007.
The biennial Maple Leaf and Eagle Conference on North American Studies has been organized by the North American Studies Program at the Renvall Institute for Area and Cultural Studies, University of Helsinki, since 1986. It has evolved into one of the largest conferences in Europe for American and Canadian Studies.
