100,000 words each; manuscript deadline of 18 months
America and Europe volumes: These subsets will offer individual volumes on women’s roles in Europe and the United States during historical periods/centuries to give a broad overview of women’s lives. Each volume will begin with a lengthy historical introduction. Each volume will provide a brief timeline of major events in that period and then a narrative with topical chapters will round out the coverage. Major topic areas will vary but will be along the lines of Family Life, Marriage and Childbearing, Religion, Public Life, Lives of Ordinary Women, Women and the Economy, Political Status, Legal Status, and Women in Literature (or other venues). Country/regional differences will be noted as necessary. Chronology. Bibliography. Glossary if appropriate. Index.
Middle East, Asia, and Latin America and the Caribbean volumes:
Same as above in the main, with topical chapters that trace developments over time by country as needed
Authors must have Ph.D. and/or be independent scholars who are subject specialists and proven producers of pertinent publications (book length). Co-authoring is fine. Replies only to qualified candidates.
