The Canadian History of Education Association (CHEA) will hold its 15th Biennial Conference at the Radisson Hotel in Sudbury, Ontario from October 23 to 26, 2008. The conference theme is “Regions and Communities: Alternative Experiences in the History of Education.” The conference organizers invite proposals for individual papers and panel sessions on all aspects of the history of education in any period. Proposals which address the following sub-themes are particularly encouraged:
• Rural and northern education
• Aboriginal education
• Ethnic, religious and linguistic minorities in education
• Historiography
• Regional identities
Individual and panel proposals must include the name, institutional affiliation, contact address and email of the presenter, a 250 word abstract, as well as a one-page curriculum vitae that provides details such as publications and current research interests. For panel proposals, please include this information for each presenter, as well as a one-page proposal for the entire session. Correspondence can be in either English or French.
The deadline for proposal submissions is January 18, 2008. Please send proposals by email attachment or regular mail to:
