This panel seeks to understand how Buddhism broadly defined works as a method (for what?), as a set of cultural forms and traditions (for whom?),or as an occasionally-fashionable meme useful to a multiplicity of purposes in the United States. While the panel is open to a broad selection of approaches and topics, submissions should consider these phenomena in the context of cultural and social production in America.
Please submit proposals of roughly 200 words by 15 November 2007 to Daniel Gustav Anderson at dander5 at gmu.edu
This panel is an ongoing event at the SW/TX PCA/ACA conference meeting in Albuquerque, NM, 2/13-16/2008. Complete venue information can be accessed at http://www.h-net.org/~swpca .
