The idea of cultural landscape would place itself in a picturesque tradition, but in contexts deeply built, characterized by something quite different from cities, or countryside, or the same landscape, as historically intended. These ways to look at contemporary landscapes are really opposite? Doesn’t rather a common basis exist for discussing? Above all, do these different forms of landscapes reflect collective expectations, images and identities?

The seminar will take place at Polytechnic of Milan. It is promoted by the Department of Landscape and Planning.

Three sessions are planned:

Theoretical points of view between history and aesthetics
Representations and cultural mediation
Ideas and experiences compared with preservation and territorial studies

CALL FOR PAPERS

Target groups
PhD-students and PhD- holders (PhD obtained in 2003 or after) are invited to participate to the seminar.

Submission and Relevant Information

Participants are invited to submit papers.
4 participants will be selected for presentation (4th December 2007)
All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings.
Papers will be delivered in English or Italian Registration is free.

Deadlines

15 October 2007: deadline for submission of abstracts (1000 characters maximum)
22 October 2007: notification of abstract acceptance
19 November 2007: deadline for submission of full papers
