On 25 and 26 January 2008, the University of Utrecht, in association with the Williamite Universe, organises a conference entitled The emergence of political ideology in foreign policy in early modern Europe (1650-1720). This conference intends to study the nature and impact of political ideology on European foreign politics and international relations. Various panels will explore this subject from different angles. Speakers include Steven Pincus (Yale), Ana Crespo (Instituto de Historia, Madrid), Gary Evans (Bristol), Stephane Jettot (Sorbonne, Paris), David Onnekink (Utrecht/Leiden), Gijs Rommelse (The Netherlands Institute of Military History) and Andrew Thompson (Cambridge).
