Thirty years ago civil rights activist Stephen Biko was murdered in South Africa. It has been said that his death brought global attention to the cruel and harsh realities of Apartheid as a system of government.
As founder and martyr of the Black Consciousness movement in South Africa, Biko played an instrumental role in dismantling the system of apartheid in South Africa. He urged South Africa’s blacks to fight for their empowerment, submitting that South Africa was the birthright of blacks.
