CALL FOR PAPERS
As Area Chair for the SPORTS AREA of the Popular Culture Association and the American Culture Association, I invite proposals for individual presentations or panels to be presented at the
POPULAR CULTURE ASSOCIATION & AMERICAN CULTURE ASSOCIATION
2008 JOINT CONFERENCE
to be held at the
San Francisco Marriott
55 Fourth Street
San Francisco, California
March 19 – 22, 2008
Papers or presentations should be planned for no more than twenty minutes and should emphasize audience involvement and aim at stimulating questions and discussion. Media presentations are especially welcomed. We will be happy to supply DVD players and TV monitors. We will have no other AV available. If you need to use your laptop, bring an S-video cable with you to plug into the equipment provided.
Topics related to any and all aspects of sports and sports history in the Bay Area and San Francisco are especially invited. Topics on all areas of sports (history, literature, sociology, physical education and recreation, current issues, etc.) are welcomed.
The absolute deadline for a 250-word abstract is November 1, 2007. Inquiries about possible papers or proposals for sessions are also welcomed. There will be a strict limitation of one presentation per person for this conference. All presenters must register for the convention and be a current member of either the PCA or the ACA. Pre-registration for the meeting is required in order for participants to have their names listed in the conference program. If possible, all proposals should be sent electronically. Please include a mailing address on all e-mails.
If your paper is accepted, you will receive an acceptance letter, registration information, the information you’ll need to join the PCA/ACA, and the room reservation information.
