International Conference on Canada’s Mission in Afghanistan

Montréal, September 19-21, 2007
The Research Group in International Security and its partners are proud to announce the much anticipated International Conference on Canada’s mission in Afghanistan. Experts from around the world have been invited to discuss the role played by Canada and the international community in Afghanistan since 2001. The conference is geared towards academics, military personnel, the business community and the general public. Simultaneous translation will be provided.
The conference, under the presidency of Madame Louise Fréchette, will be launched with an official dinner on September 19, with a keynote address by the Chief of the Defence Staff, General Rick Hillier, C.M.M., C.S.M., C.D.
The next two days will be divided in panels to discuss the importance of the role of the Canadian Forces and NATO, international aid, the political and social reconstruction, the war on drugs as well as the geopolitics of Central Asia.
