Dr. Grenier will speak on Major Robert Rogers and his military service in the eighteenth century British Atlantic world. Grenier will use Rogers' life story as a lens to look at the complexities surrounding the changing nature of the empire in the era of the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. He will also compare Major Rogers to another famous military man of the era, George Washington. Dr. Grenier is the author of _The First Way of War: American War Making on the Frontier, 1607-1814_ (Cambridge, 2006), named the winner of the Society of Military History’s Distinguished Book Award for American Military History in 2006.
