The research group Borgeoisie & *Civic Life* in the 20th century (Bürgertum & Bürgerlichkeit im 20. Jahrhundert) under the direction of Prof. Gunilla Budde, Oldenburg, Prof Eckart Conze, Marburg, and Prof. Cornelia Rauh-Kühne, Hannover, is organizing a section on "New Bourgeoisie?" at the 47th *Day of Historians* (Historikertag) 2008 in Dresden. The main research focus is on the second half of the 20th century. The intention is to critically analyze the similarities and differences between the culture of the middle classes of different European societies and that of the United States, in particular in regard to socio-structural conditions, historical assumptions as well as criteria of transformation. Proposals / (Abstracts) / of a maximum of 2 pages are welcome until October 1, 2007 to:
