Call for Papers: Extended Deadline until October 1, 2007
39th Convention, Northeast Modern Language Association (NeMLA)
April 10-13, 2008 in Buffalo, New York
Recent years have shown an increased interest in drama pedagogy for foreign language learning. Drama pedagogy is a holistic teaching and learning approach closely connected with dramatic art forms. Drama techniques guide students to experience the foreign language in hands-on situations that simulate reality and, at the same time, inspire imagination and creativity.
This panel seeks to investigate innovative scholarship and/or teaching at the intersection of drama/theater and language learning. The panel also invites contributions about viable ways to research and evaluate drama pedagogy for the teaching of foreign languages, literatures, and cultures.
Paper titles, proposals of no more than 300 words and brief CVs (approx. 100 words) should be sent electronically by 1 Oktober 2007 to:
Susanne Even, Germanic Studies, Indiana University, evens@indiana.edu. Please indicate any A/V requirements.
Interested participants may submit abstracts to more than one NeMLA panel; however panelists can only present one paper. Convention participants may present at a paper session panel and also present at a creative session or participate in a roundtable.
