As a special feature of the 2008 Western History Association Conference in Salt Lake City, the American West Center at the University of Utah is running a western documentary film festival for meeting attendees. We hope this will make the Salt Lake WHA all the more interesting and invigorating. But our principle objective is to introduce several little-known documentaries about aspects of the western experience to teachers who might find these films useful in their own teaching. We will more fully detail plans for the documentary festival and issue a call for films in the near future. However, this initial CFP is for a roundtable on teaching with documentaries that we hope will complement the documentary festival. We invite scholars who have pedagogical experience with documentaries or with other film texts to submit, by August 15, 2007, a brief description of topics or approaches you would like to discuss. Please also include a short CV. Send all materials and enquiries to firstname.lastname@example.org.
