We seek to balance the well-documented under-representation of women journalists, as well as to become a leader in online news. We offer a significantly greater diversity of background and opinion than is normally found in online news publications.

By promoting a distinctively contextual perspective, The WIP fosters dialog and brings divergent cultures, opinions, and ideas together. Our articles are more humanistic than traditional news stories. They are concerned with the impact of events as much as details already widely available.

The WIP has had over 20,000 page views from readers in ninety-two different countries. In just four months we've published 135 articles by women in twenty nations. We've made 700+ entries in our Byline Portal, which links our readers to important articles by women from journals, magazines, websites, and online newspapers around the globe.
