A vote on Thailand’s 18th charter is scheduled for 19 August 2007. In response to this historic event, the Australian National University's New Mandala website is hosting a feature on the constitutional referendum. With commentary from academic analysts in Thailand and around the world, it will showcase fresh perspectives on the efforts of Thailand's military government to promulgate a new constitution for the post-Thaksin era.
During this time, New Mandala's effort to stimulate broader academic discussion of mainland Southeast Asia's many social, political, environmental and economic issues will continue.
