FINAL POSTING: Call For Papers
The Journal of the Early Republic invites essay submissions for a special issue on political writing and literature between 1800 and 1835, guest edited by Sandra M. Gustafson. Appropriate submissions include any and all work that reflects on the relationship between writing on politics and writing that is "literary," as that term was coming to be defined. Political writing dominated the founding era. Literary writing identified by its aesthetic and imaginative properties was prominent on the antebellum scene. What happened in between?
The deadline for submissions is August 1, 2007.
Submissions may be made to jer@shear.org. Papers should not exceed 9000 words including documentation. Please prepare manuscripts according to the standard JER guidelines at http://jer.pennpress.org/strands/jer/submissionInfo.htm;jsessionid=8238F949C03F2E60DC87B3C74AC0A2E6
