What is (premodern) literature?
The suggested topics may be interpreted widely and are intended to encompass as broad an historical range as may be applicable. Proposals for complete panels, with names or abstracts of all speakers (3 or 4), may also be submitted but it is unlikely that we will be able to include more than one of these.
Proposals should be accompanied by a short abstract (250-300 words) outlining the argument, and be framed with a view to addressing an audience of both specialists and non-specialists. You should include your name, institutional affiliation and e-mail address. Papers are selected on the basis of peer review, and you should hear by late October 2007 whether it has been possible to include your paper.
Please send abstracts by e-mail by 14th September 2007 to the President of the Society, Professor Simon Gaunt: simon.gaunt@kcl.ac.uk. For further information on the conference, see www.sfs.ac.uk
