On November 9-11, the Canadian Centre for Genocide Education - and its partners - will host a conference in Ottawa on the continuing crisis in Darfur, which, according to United Nations estimates, has claimed the lives of some 450,000 civilians and has driven some 2,500,000 others from their homes. The conference will bring together many of the scholars and activists who are working on Darfur. Among the confirmed speakers are Professor Joyce Apsel (New York University), Professor Robert O. Collins (University of California-Santa Barbara), Linda Melvern (Author: "A People Betrayed" & "Conspiracy to Murder"), Professor Catharine Newbury (Smith College), Dr. Gregory Stanton (Genocide Watch), and Professor Samuel Totten (University of Arkansas).
Proposals for additional conference papers are welcome. Proposals should be sent via e-mail by August 31 to .
