Contents
Economic and Social History analyses the imprinting of our presence by economic and social developments of the past. The programme provides an overview over the basic trends of economic and social development in the 19th and 20th centuries. It traces the transformation from the age of mercantilism to the era of industrialization and the emergence of modern societies. Special emphasis is laid on business history, the history of consumption and the history of globalisation. In its methodological and thematic approach, economic and social history is an interface between history, economics and social sciences. Therefore interdisciplinary courses are a core element of the MA programme.
Career opportunities:
There is a great variety of job opportunities for graduates. It includes careers in publishing, in archives and museums. The master degree also qualifies for public management, business journalism, public relations, consulting or marketing.
The MA programme already involves practical knowledge by internships and other forms of cooperation with companies, archives, museums, foundations and research institutions.
