MIDWEST CULTURE

NATIONAL POPULAR CULTURE & AMERICAN CULTURE ASSOCIATIONS 2008 JOINT CONFERENCE

March 19-22, 2008
SAN FRANCISCO MARIOTT
San Francisco, California

We are considering proposals for sessions organized around a theme, special panels, and/or individual papers. Sessions are scheduled in 1½ hour slots, typically with four papers or speakers per standard session.

TOPICS MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Ethnic and folk cultures

Depictions of the Midwest in popular culture

Foodways

History of the Midwest

Midwestern art and artists

Midwestern literature and writers

Political culture

Religious traditions

Travel narratives

Should you or any of your colleagues be interested in submitting a proposal or have any questions, please contact the area chair (see below).

Submit a one-page (150-250 word) proposal or abstract (via regular mail or e-mail) by November 1, 2007
