In the 94 years of teaching German in India, attempts have been made to produce text books for German Studies, but they were all futile because of lack of coordination and the expertise. Individual production of texts and textbooks was not encouraged for many reasons which are specific to indian conditions, in which caste, religion, community etc play an important role in determining the merit and demerits. The production of texts and textbooks suffered as a result and others used this indian situations to their advantage.
The seminar will look into three categories:
1. historical scenario
2. the present and
3. situations in other countries and possible cooperation
There will plenary sessions, paper presentations and workshops.
