Articulations 2007 will be part conference and part workshop. The organizers wish to draw a group of scholars and artists from multiple disciplines to engage with the ideas of sustainability, performance, and the violence created by scholarly intervention. We conceive of performance scholarship as a sustainable practice. Scholarly inquiry extends and inevitably alters the ephemeral event by engaging with and re-thinking the conditions that make the performance possible.
We invite you to begin your participation with Articulations 2007 by entering our website, a virtual Twin Cities in which your movements may reveal a more detailed rendering of this conference-performance: http//articulations.umn.edu. Please send a 250-word description of how your research and/or artistic practice resonates with performance scholarship, understood in this case as the doing of scholarship in the streets of Minneapolis and St. Paul, to George McConnell at Articulations2007@gmail.com by June 30, 2007.
