Literary authors, painters, filmmakers, and theater producers have been eager to incorporate architecture in their works, not only to provide a physical setting but also to create a particular atmosphere. In order to better understand architecture as an integral part of human experiences, we will hold a conference session to discuss roles of architecture in works of literature, art, film, and theater depicting either historical or fictional events. Authors may discuss a particular piece of work or a group of works in a certain time period. Authors may demonstrate either synchronic or diachronic relationships between architecture and other humanities works. The conference will be held in Houston, TX, on March 27-30, 2008. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of the topic, we will welcome submissions from cross-disciplinary collaborative teams as well as single authors.
