Identity has been a major preoccupation among Humanities and Social Science scholars in recent years. It also has significant international, political, social and cultural resonances beyond the community of scholars. The 76th. Anglo-American Conference will be devoted to this important subject. As always at an Anglo-American Conference, the subject will be treated across as broad a geographical and chronological range as possible. The conference has
a comparative dimension, and the aim is to bring together scholars working on as many historical periods and places as possible, while seeking thematic coherence.
Plenary speakers: David Cannadine, Colin Jones, Hugh Kennedy, David Nirenberg, Timothy Snyder
4-6 July 2007

Please note that all plenary sessions will be at the Brunei Lecture Theatre, SOAS (next door to the IHR)
