Conference Announcement and call for papers:
Medieval Relativism and Its Legacy, 1230 to 1450
June 5-7, 2008, Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne, Paris, France.
This interdisciplinary conference seeks to investigate the resistance to and spread of relativistic modes of thought and expression during the later Middle Ages, from the first surviving Latin commentaries on Aristotle's Metaphysics to the development of linear perspective in art. In particular, we are interested in papers that focus on relativistic ideas in theological, scientific, ethical and literary works, as well as in the visual arts.
