Coventry area
Advance registration required: $15 ($10 per member)
How do we know what we know about historical figures? In this hands-on family workshop, Rebecca Taber-Conover will teach us to use objects and documents, such as diaries and inventories, to learn about the Hale family. Then we will weigh the historical evidence as we answer questions about ‘what we know’. During the second part of our visit we will explore the landscape of the Hale Homestead and how it has changed throughout history. We will learn about the farming tasks of young Nathan Hale’s family, the crops they grew and animals they raised through hands-on activities.
Bring a picnic lunch along and enjoy the afternoon at the Homestead. Colonial games will be provided for the children’s enjoyment! Adults and children ages 8 and above. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
